An herbal facial steam is one of those old-world, no-fuss rituals that feels like a mini spa day—especially in winter when indoor heat leaves us feeling dry and a bit “stale.” This V2 mix is designed to be gentle, aromatic, and easy to batch for personal use or gifting—without making any medical promises.
(We’re aiming for comfort, clarity, and a little glow—not cures.)
The V2 Blend: “Soft Winter Steam”
This is a balanced mix: calming florals + soothing leaf herbs + a touch of kitchen-spice warmth.
Ingredients (by volume)
2 parts chamomile
Photo by Yaroslava Stupnytska on Unsplash (flowers)
2 parts calendula (petals)
Photo by Patrick Pahlke on Unsplash 1 part lavender (buds)
1 part rose petals (or hibiscus-free rose blend—rose is gentler)
1 part lemon balm (or tulsi if you prefer)
Optional winter accent (choose one, small):
½ part dried orange peel or
¼ part crushed rosemary (very small—rosemary is strong)
Why these herbs work well together (practical)
Chamomile + calendula: gentle, classic “comfort herbs”
Lavender + rose: spa-like aroma
Lemon balm: fresh, clean note that keeps it from smelling “dusty”
How to Use (safe + simple)
What you need
Heat-safe bowl (ceramic or glass)
Kettle or pot
Towel
Timer
Instructions (1 session)
Add 1–2 tablespoons of the mix to a bowl.
Pour in 4–6 cups of hot water (hot-steaming, not a rolling boil).
Let it steep 1 minute so the hottest blast settles.
Lean in 12–18 inches away, drape towel over head and bowl.
Close eyes. Breathe gently for 3–6 minutes.
Stop if you feel too warm or flushed.
Pat dry. Apply a simple moisturizer.
Frequency: 1–2x per week is plenty for most people.
Safety Notes (worth keeping on the label)
Keep your face back from the steam—steam burns are real.
Avoid if you have very reactive skin, active irritation, or are prone to flushing.
If you have asthma/allergies, skip strong aromatics and keep sessions short.
Don’t add essential oils to the bowl (easy to overdo; irritation risk).
If pregnant/nursing or using prescription skincare, keep it conservative or check with a professional.

Optional “Boosters” (for advanced crafters)
