As we discussed in our last article, we can take green energy, homesteading and permaculture down the path of 1.) orienting our target homestead to that of a very back-woods, rustic homesteading experience (as in the picture above), or 2.) directing our efforts in a much less rustic environment such as outside a city in an area that allows you to grow some crops and possibly even to have a small flock of chickens.

Another aspect, is the use of shipping containers and large agriculturally-oriented structures, for growing produce. But, I digress.

Both homesteading paths (back-woods and peri-suburban have some strong home-building parallels. I use these facets as planning and strategy mobilizers. For instance, if we compare our search for a homesteading target parcel with that of setting up a deep woods camp location… we can get our homesteading and permaculture ideas flowing and assessed. For instance, how can we best leverage green energy? Let’s get started in assessing these things!
