1.            The Roasting Box[1]

The whole hog roasting box is the next cooking approach that you need to be aware of. That’s because the roasting box represents an interesting, and highly effective, spin-off of the pit barbecue cooking approach. It’s a stand-out method due to the overall cooking speed and heating efficiency.

You have several roasting box alternatives to consider. Let’s start off by considering the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) approach. Then we will look at the dominant roasting box supplier and the history of the roasting box. We’ll end up this section by circling back to DIY and the reconsideration as to whether the DIY alternative makes sense based on your particular is knowledge, needs and budget.

Pit barbecue uses three basic elements to create the magic. The first element is an enclosed space to hold heat within the “container” to speed what is normally an extremely long cooking process. Secondly, the pit relies on controlled indirect heat like an insulated and airtight oven. Third, we add the element of smoke to flavor the foods we’re cooking. The roasting box, however, uses only the first two of these three elements.
